Tucked within a private 645-hectare reserve in Hoedspruit, South Africa, Ujima Lodge is an intimate, 8-suite sanctuary at the heart of the world’s largest conservation landscape. Here, barefoot luxury meets untamed wilderness.
Bordering the iconic Greater Kruger National Park, the reserve offers a rare freedom to move gently through the land – walking or cycling beside giraffe and zebra, before crossing into Kruger for unforgettable encounters with the Big Five.
This is a place of deep stillness and raw beauty – where the rhythm of the wild sets the pace. Mornings begin with birdsong and the slow warmth of sunrise; the day ends beside the fire, sharing stories beneath a sky scattered with stars.
Ujima Lodge is located within the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, a beautiful 680-hectare reserve home to a wide range of plains game and birdlife. The estate features scenic walking and biking trails, peaceful bird hides, and several dams where wildlife can often be spotted. Ujima Lodge is set in an exclusive location surrounded by natural bushland, offering peace and privacy. Ujima’s guests enjoy exclusive access to an 11-acre private area, ideal for guided walks, quiet reflection, and wellness sessions in nature.
Hoedspruit (Eastgate Airport) is easily accessible with more than 3 flights per day (Airlink) from Johannesburg (50 minutes) and Cape Town (2.5 hours), or by road—about a 5-hour drive from Johannesburg and 15 minutes from Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport, with transfers available.
At Ujima, every retreat contributes directly to wildlife conservation across Africa. A portion of our revenue is dedicated to supporting real, on-the-ground efforts — from responding to snared or injured animals to tracking vulnerable species in remote areas. During our most recent retreat, over R140,000 was donated to these vital missions, helping protect Africa’s wild places and the animals that call them home.
